In Isère, a couple of white storks were brought to safety by Enedis teams. An intervention delicate, because the birds have built their nest on an electricity pylon.
It’s a funny place to nest. A couple of storks settled on the edge of a highway in Isère and chose an electricity pylon as a dwelling. Next to their wings circulates a current of 20,000 volts. Enedis, the company in charge of the network, is thus come lay down a protection so that the birds do not burn their wings.
“The major risk is valid for the birds, it is valid for our electricians. They have very strict procedures to follow.” details Jean-Christophe Fizetbranch manager at Enedis. In less than 45 minutes, the technicians install the minimum protection. The nest was spotted by an observer from the LPO (League bird protection). Above all, the association had to choose the right time to intervene and not disturb the birds so that the storks did not abandon their eggs.
