To achieve this, it would be necessary to plant 275,000 trees per day. The rate is higher than the current rate of 205,000 trees per day. The city of Anglet, in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques, is about to begin its reforestation. The flames devoured 165 hectares of the landscape there two years ago.

The town hall will replant cork oaks and pines. “We are going to replant 60,000 trees for this fall and winter”, assures Damien Duhamel, director general of the services of the city of Anglet. In a century, in many departments, the area of ​​forests has increased significantly. They now occupy more than a third of the metropolitan territory. If for some municipalities reforestation is a solution, associations have some reservations. Young trees are particularly more sensitive to drought, disease or storms and fires.
