How can we protect children from adult internet content? More than one in two eleven-year-olds has seen violent or pornographic content.
A bill wants to systematize parental control on all connected devices, from the first use. “It can actually help to prevent them from going on problematic content, afterwards I still prefer to try to watch what is there”, confides a father, while a woman notes that “children are very smart”.
Between the ages of 10 and 14, eight out of 10 children regularly go online without their parents. Many are confronted with inappropriate, pornographic or violent images. Most young people, however, believe that parental control is counterproductive. “It’s also good to discover for yourself and, suddenly, to learn from your mistakes”, underlines a teenager, while a young girl recalls that “family relationships are built on trust”.
