is it really planned that all French people be vaccinated ten times a year, as the host Benjamin Castaldi assures?

It is a statement that has caused a lot of reaction on social networks. TV host Benjamin Castaldi assured on the TPMP set that the French would receive “up to ten booster doses” vaccine against Covid-19. It hasn’t been advertised, but it’s in the software for nurses and doctors“, he explained. Health Insurance, however, disputes this version.

In a message posted on Twitter, Health Insurance denied the information from Benjamin Castaldi. “No, it is not planned “up to ten booster doses of the #Vaccine anti covid”the organization wrote. The Health Insurance is in fact in charge of the covid vaccine information system set up by the Ministry of Health at the start of the vaccination campaign against Covid-19. This file allows health professionals (doctors, nurses, pharmacists, etc.) “to inform and follow for each patient all the stages of the anti-Covid 19 vaccination”recalls the organization.

Contacted, Health Insurance confirms that the covid vaccine interface “in fact displays the possibility of going up to 7 injections”. But this does not predict the number of vaccines that all French people will receive. “This only concerns the exceptional situations of immunocompromised people”, indicates the National Fund, specifying that “the aim is to cover the rare cases that may have a high number of injections”.

The severely immunocompromised, who would be around 300,000 in France, are actually considered to be “ultra-priority” for vaccination recalls Yvanie Caillé, founder of Renaloo, an association of patients with kidney disease. Patients who have undergone an organ transplant, placed on dialysis or suffering from certain cancers have, in fact, been the first to be able to receive a dose of vaccine. Yvanie Caillé also recalls that their initial schedule was not two doses but three, unlike the rest of the population. They were then made eligible for two booster doses, as indicated in a DGS-urgent published on January 28, 2022. This note from the Directorate General of Health also indicates that “Covid vaccine has been updated to be able to record up to six injections”.

To date, immune-compromised people may therefore have already received a minimum of five doses of vaccine. The Vaccine Strategy Guidance Council has also recently recommended moving thereafter to a booster every six months for these most fragile people.

The Covid Vaccine information system has therefore simply been adapted so that doctors can enter the vaccination of these patients.
