Wednesday September 28, Emmanuel Macron brings together the leaders of the majority in order to move forward on the pension reform. From the Élysée, journalist Catherine Demangeat takes stock of her strategy, and explains that a third option is being considered to implement this reform.
“Until now, there were two options on the table. Either an amendment in the social security budget, which must be voted on before the end of the year, or a specific bill submitted to Parliament in January”says Catherine Demangeat, live from the Élysée Palace, on the evening of Wednesday, September 28, while Emmanuel Macron is organizing a meeting on pension reform.
However, a third way seems to emerge: a rectified budget of social security in January, which would organize a few months of consultation. “Above all, the time for debate in Parliament is limited and 49.3 can be used without restriction on budgetary texts”, continues the journalist. This third formula will be at the center of discussions on Wednesday evening. “Beyond the method, it will also be a question of the substance, what postponement of the legal retirement age”, explains Catherine Demangeat. Measures will be announced before the end of the week.
