Iron ore Quebec | Agreement ratified for 712 steelworkers

The workers of Ore iron Quebec endorsed by 86.7% the agreement in principle which was reached between the Steelworkers union and the company regarding the renewal of their collective agreement.

The 712 workers did not have to exercise their strike mandate.

The Steelworkers union, which is affiliated with the FTQ, specifies that the new employment contract provides for salary increases of 26.25% over five years, including 13.25% in the first year.

According to the union, “from the first year, they will become the best paid on the North Shore.”

The new collective agreement includes improvements to the night premium, to the premium paid to those who reside in Fermont, as well as to group insurance.

The management of Champion, of which Ore iron Quebec is a subsidiary, also welcomed this new employment contract, affirming that it allows a balance between navigating in an uncertain economic context and remaining competitive.
