Iphigénie in Pointe-aux canceled at Prospero

The show Iphigénie in Pointe-auxwhich was to be presented in the intimate room of the Prospero Theater from November 28 to December 16, will not take place.

The 15 performances planned on the calendar had to be canceled. The theater management made the announcement on Facebook.

“Having not received the public funds necessary to carry out their creation, it is with regret that the team of Iphigénie in Pointe-aux sees itself obliged to cancel the 15 performances planned for this fall,” we can read.

“The piece denounces the systemic exploitation of people in precarious situations: it would be ironic to keep this production on display while being fully aware of the conditions in which this team entirely composed of emerging women artists finds itself.”

Gary Owen’s text, directed by Isabelle Bartkowiak, brought together a cast of five female performers.

The theater and the producing company Les Stations sordides are in discussions to postpone the show until the 2024-2025 season. Ticket holders will be contacted shortly by the Prospero team.
