Investment of almost 1 million | Ottawa renovates the Canadian Cold War Museum

(Montreal) Ottawa is investing nearly a million dollars to renovate the Canadian Cold War Museum, also called Diefenbunker, in reference to former Prime Minister John Diefenbaker.

The underground museum located in Ottawa will be modernized to be more accessible and more environmentally friendly, according to the federal government.

The electrical and ventilation systems will notably be renovated, and a new entrance will be added.

The Diefenbunker was commissioned by former Prime Minister Diefenbaker in 1959 to provide a safe place for important members of the government and military in the event of a nuclear attack.
