While little Émile’s skull was found on Saturday March 30, investigations led to the discovery of the clothes belonging to the little boy 48 hours later. However, the causes of his death still remain unknown.
Two days after the discovery of little Émile’s skull, while around a hundred gendarmes were still hard at work, the public prosecutor of Aix-en-Provence (Bouches-du-Rhône), Jean-Luc Blachon, spoke for the first time on Tuesday April 2, and made revelations. 150 meters from the place where Émile’s skull was discovered, the clothes he wore on the day of his disappearance were found. “A t-shirt, his shoes, and a pair of pants, which were not gathered in the same place, but which were scattered over a few dozen meters”listed Jean-Luc Blachon.
The bones show no damage or fracture.
The skull found by the hiker was not buried in the ground, but placed near the path, in plain sight. If the area was searched at the time of Émile’s disappearance, investigators could have missed it. According to the prosecutor, the heat could have altered the dogs’ sense of smell. The bones show no dents or fractures.
