An investigation was opened on Thursday April 6 into Telegram chat loops used by the far-right group “FRDETER” which exchanged racist remarks and calls for violence there, announced the Paris prosecutor’s office. The investigation was entrusted to the Central Directorate of the Judicial Police (DCPJ) and to the gendarmes of the Central Office for the Fight against Crimes against Humanity and Hate Crimes (OCLCH), added the prosecution without specifying the offences.
On Monday, the Minister of the Interior, Gérald Darmanin, said he was working “to the legal action to be taken” regarding these discussion groups used by the “French nationalist group Deter [déterminés]“ on encrypted messaging. At the same time, a report, via the Pharos platform, had been sent to Telegram to obtain their closure. Since then, the channel has been “closed by Telegram”assured Friday the Ministry of the Interior, requested by AFP.
Lawyer Nabil Boudi, for his part, told AFP that he had filed a complaint against X on Friday at the National Anti-Terrorist Prosecutor’s Office (Pnat) for “association of criminals of a terrorist nature, disclosure of personal data of an individual with the aim of harming him and direct provocation to commit acts of terrorism”. This collective complaint was filed on behalf of nine people, including political figures, said the lawyer.
