After his resignation, the former principal of the Parisian high school Maurice-Ravel filed a complaint on Friday April 12 for “slanderous denunciation” according to information from franceinfo, confirmed by the Paris prosecutor’s office. An investigation is opened, entrusted to the 20th arrondissement police station. The complaint targets the BTS student who was asked by the principal to remove his veil at the end of February. A request which earned him numerous death threats online, following which the principal left his position “for security reasons”, at the end of March.

The Paris prosecutor’s office indicates that it also received a report from the rectorate, dating from Tuesday April 2, a few days after an interview between the principal and Gabriel Attal. On this occasion, the Prime Minister had in fact announced that the State would file a complaint “for slanderous denunciation”. The investigation will make it possible to assess whether or not the comments made by the high school student following the altercation can be criminally qualified as “slanderous denunciation”.
