Investigation into the Capitol Assault | Fox News presenter invited to testify

(Washington) A star presenter of the favorite channel of the American conservatives, Fox News, was invited on Tuesday to testify to the commission investigating the assault on Capitol Hill, because of his proximity to former President Donald Trump.

Sean Hannity, star of the conservative media and regular guest of Donald Trump’s meetings, is of interest to the elected officials of this parliamentary inquiry because of his “dozens of texts” sent to the Republican billionaire and his entourage in the days preceding and following the invasion of the US Congress.

On this cold winter day, thousands of supporters of Donald Trump had invaded the headquarters of the United States Congress to try to prevent elected officials from certifying the victory of Joe Biden in the presidential election.

“I am very worried about the next 48 hours,” wrote Mr. Hannity in one of the texts, sent on January 5, the day before the attack.

Almost a year to the day after the attack on Congress, the two elected officials at the head of a parliamentary investigation sent a letter inviting Sean Hannity to cooperate.

“Why were you worried? Bennie Thompson and Liz Cheney ask in this letter. They invite him to respond during a hearing of the committee.

This so-called “January 6” commission, the date of the Capitol invasion, intends to take advantage of the momentum around the anniversary of this assault to show pressure on the Trump camp.
