The passengers of Air France flight AF011, who had boarded in New York, do not seem to have panicked according to a passenger testimony collected by our colleagues from Parisian. However, while their plane was in the last phase of landing, Tuesday at Roissy airport, the pilots had to go around in disaster.
The pilots would have noticed that the plane no longer responded to the controls and deviated from its trajectory. They then give up, at the last second, to land and then turn for ten minutes above Paris before landing, without incident this time, indicates this witness who affirms not to have been really informed of the incident by the captain.
This Wednesday, the BEA, (Bureau of Investigation and Analysis for Civil Aviation Safety), indicates that an investigation has been opened.
For its part, Air France published a statement in which it “confirms that the crew of flight AF011 on April 4, 2022 connecting New York JFK to Paris – CDG in a Boeing 777 interrupted their landing sequence and performed a go-around during the approach to Paris-Charles de Gaulle“. Air France explains that “The crew landed the aircraft normally after a second approach“.
The company states that “The go-around is defined by the authorities, the aeronautical manufacturers and Air France as a normal procedure which goes in the direction of safety. Crews are trained and regularly practiced in these procedures practiced by all airlines in order to guarantee the safety of flights and passengers, which are absolute imperatives for Air France.“.
