The Longueuil agglomeration police department (SPAL) is conducting an investigation following a violent road collision which injured four people early Saturday morning.
The head-on collision between two vehicles traveling on Taschereau Boulevard took place around 4 a.m. this morning. Quickly, police were dispatched to the scene and a security perimeter was erected on this road artery, resulting in a complete closure to traffic on a short section, between Georges and Charles streets. Around 10:45 am, however, the police announced a resumption of traffic on this boulevard.
The accident injured four people who were taken to a hospital. We fear for the life of one of them. It is a woman whose age is unknown for the moment, indicated to the To have to agent Jean-Pierre Voutsinos, spokesperson for SPAL. At the end of the morning, the police force was still awaiting an update on the state of health of the victims.
A young woman in her twenties was also arrested for impaired driving. According to information available to the Longueuil police at this stage of the investigation, it appears that the driver was traveling in the opposite direction on Taschereau Boulevard at the time of the collision. It is not known, however, whether speed could have played a role in this accident, the investigation still following its course, specifies Jean-Pierre Voutsinos.
