After 9 months of searching, the skull of little Emile, missing since July 8, 2023, was found. It was a hiker who found the skull on March 30, 2024 in an area that was difficult to access. An area which has already been searched, without success, during initial searches.
Since this discovery, the investigation has continued to find the other parts of the body of the two and a half year old child, and to try to explain the circumstances of his death. This Tuesday, April 2, 2024, Jean-Luc Blachon, prosecutor of Aix-en-Provence, spoke at a press point to provide an update on the investigation.

The Aix-en-Provence prosecutor makes new revelations since the discovery of Emile’s skull
“The area where Emile’s skull was discovered was checked the day after his disappearance by human teams”he initially clarified before explaining why the research would not have been successful in July 2023: “It is July 2023, the vegetation is high, the terrain is complicated to access and it was over 30 degrees”.
In fact, the prosecutor explains that “this hour”, investigators cannot say whether Emile’s body was already in the search area at the time of the first searches. Jean-Luc Blachon then spoke about the hiker who found the little boy’s skull.
The hiker put the skull in a plastic bag
He indicates that it has “picked up the skull and put it in plastic and took it home before calling the police.”. According to the prosecutor, the woman “certainly wanted to do well.” This Monday, April 1, 2024, the searches made it possible to find, “below 150m from the skull”, “a T-Shirt, shoes and panties”.
If at present it is still impossible to know the circumstances of the little boy’s death, Jean-Luc Blachon nevertheless reveals that the skull presents “bite marks and small fractures”. The bones having been exposed “long weathered”do not make it possible to define the causes of death.
