Isn’t the Internet an essential service in the midst of the apocalypse? In order to save our skin, shouldn’t we be able to make an appointment to get a dose of vaccine or a screening test? Of course, if you don’t have access to this form of technology, you can always fall back on the phone. But who takes pleasure in waiting sometimes for hours […] in order to reach a government service?

For unconnected people like me, how do I manage when the public is once again not allowed to sit in cafes, dining halls and food courts in shopping malls where the Internet is? often accessible with the purchase of a drink. Other shelters greatly appreciated by our community: public libraries! Computers are in fact available when the population feels the need to navigate. But, since the start of the pandemic, public libraries have often restricted their services to lending only documents. Taxpayers who do not have Internet at their home cannot therefore use this precious tool in the heart of these places, which are nevertheless financed by public services. Shouldn’t municipal libraries be offering the Internet at all times?
