Resting last weekend, far from Clairefontaine, where they are preparing for their two qualifying matches for Euro 2025 and then for the Olympic Games, the players of the French team followed the results of the first round of the legislative elections, Sunday June 30. After the National Rally (RN) came out on top, Sakina Karchaoui believes “that we must block the extreme right” during the second round on Sunday July 7.
“I say it loud and clear. It is far from being the best option for our country. Since we were little, we have grown up with the notion of sharing, of living together. Today, opening access to a far-right political party is something very dangerous. I think that people are not aware of what they are doing,” explains the Paris Saint-Germain full-back, who grew up in Miramas (Bouches-du-Rhône), where the RN won almost 49% of the vote.
“France is diversity. It’s like a football team. In the French team, we have a slogan: ‘our differences unite us.’ I hope people will vote, I hope people will vote in the future, but in any case, we will have to block the extreme right, that’s for sure,” continues the 28-year-old player, who has dual nationality, French and Moroccan.
“The France that I love is not for this kind of political party. I am afraid of the future of France. My parents are 100% Moroccan, I hope that France will not push people to leave.”

At the castle, where Hervé Renard’s group is gathered, “the subject of the legislative elections has returned to the locker room”confirms Eugénie Le Sommer, who had surgery on her right knee in April, but “in time” to hold his place at the Olympics.
“There are things that are worrying. Now, it’s the votes of the French. Everyone has to question themselves at the country level.”continues the best scorer in the history of the selection, specifying that the ideas advocated by the extreme right “are not the values [qu’elle] sharing”.
A common thought among the Blues, according to Sakina Karchaoui. “On the substance of the problem, we all think the same thing, that’s what’s reassuring”she assures. The idea of a joint statement for the women’s team, similar to what was envisaged by Kylian Mbappé’s teammates at the Euro in Germany, was raised, without going any further for the moment.
