International political figures gathered in Montreal

Many progressive political figures gathered in Montreal on Saturday alongside Prime Minister Justin Trudeau for the 2023 Global Action Summit for Progress.

Among these personalities, we found the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Canada Mélanie Joly, and the Minister of Finance of Canada, Chrystia Freeland.

As for international personalities, present were, among others, the former Prime Minister of New Zealand, Jacinda Ardern, the Prime Minister of Norway, Jonas Gahr Store, the former Prime Minister of Finland, Sanna Marin , or Tony Blair, former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom.

Many experts were also part of the panel such as the vice-president of Eurasia Group, Gerald Butts, and Mark Carney, United Nations special envoy for financing climate action.

In total, representatives from more than 15 countries gathered to talk about progress in the Quebec metropolis.

Several panels were organized, such as “Strengthening democracy in the era of impunity” or “Democracy in the digital age: What are the challenges for 2024?”.
