The end of a long soap opera. Melvyn Jaminet, rear of the XV of France, formalized his departure from Toulouse next season, in an interview with The Team, Friday, April 15. The young 22-year-old player was playing until then in Perpignan, where he had revealed himself as a professional last year, in Pro D2. He will be linked with Stade Toulouse until 2025.
Jaminet revealed himself during the Summer Tour in Australia, last July. His precision against the poles had allowed the Blues to win a test match for the first time in 31 years with the Wallabies. He started in all five French Grand Slam matches, during the last Six Nations Tournament. In Toulouse, he will notably be in competition with Thomas Ramos, another international rear.
Before joining the reigning French and European champion, the native of Hyères will have the mission of keeping Usap in the Top 14. Four days from the end, the Catalan club is thirteenth in the championship, seven points behind Brive, twelfth and directly saved. If things don’t change, Perpignan will have to play a play-off against the loser of the Pro D2 final to stay in the top flight.
