Two Quebec authors, Kevin Lambert and Gabrielle Boulianne-Tremblay, are on the preliminary list for the International Dublin Literary Award, a prestigious prize rewarding works of fiction written or translated into English.
The 70 novels competing this year for this prize were chosen by representatives of some 80 public libraries from 35 countries. The accompanying grant, worth 100,000 euros (C$146,000), is the highest awarded to an author for a single work of fiction published in English.
Kevin Lambert continues his conquest of international prizes, after being winner of the Décembre and Médicis prizes in France for his most recent novel, May our joy remain. This is his previous novel, Roberval Quarrel (in a translation by Donald Winkler) which allows him to appear on the list of the prize sponsored by the city council of Dublin, Ireland. As for Gabrielle Boulianne-Tremblay, she stands out for Dandelion Daughtertranslation of The daughter of herselfby Eli Tareq El Bechelany-Lynch.

The shortlist will be announced on March 26, while the winning entry will be announced on May 23, in Dublin. Remember that, last year, the novel by Quebec writer Kim Thúy, Emwas among the six finalist works for this international prize.
