The prosecutor of the International Criminal Court requested, on Monday May 20, several arrest warrants for war crimes and crimes against humanity. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, his Defense Minister and several Hamas leaders are targeted.

Thunderclap in The Hague (Netherlands): the prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC) announced, Monday May 20, that he wanted to issue arrest warrants both against members of the Israeli government and against leaders of the Hamas. However, it is Benjamin Netanyahu who serves as the main accused. Karim Khan, ICC prosecutor, points the finger at the Israeli leader and his defense minister, who “bear criminal responsibility for international crimes committed on the territory of the Palestinian State”.

It is the conduct of the war in Gaza which is called into question by the ICC prosecutor. Israeli politicians are accused of mass murders against civilians and of organizing a famine in Gaza. In a speech, Benjamin Netanyahu insisted on rejecting these accusations.
