War between Hamas and Israel: intensification of strikes on Gaza
War between Hamas and Israel: intensification of strikes on Gaza – (France info)
Israeli air raids in the Gaza Strip took place on Monday October 23 with military targets in their sights. Humanitarian aid for civilians, for its part, is struggling to get underway.
Not since October 7 has Gaza experienced such a deluge of fire and steel. In recent hours, Monday October 23, the Israeli army claims to have struck more than 320 military targets, Hamas tunnels and command centers among others. On average, this represents one strike every five minutes. Hamas speaks of 5,087 deaths, including more than 2,000 children killed since the start of Israeli military operations in Gaza. “There is no future in Gaza, the city is destroyed”, notes a resident. In 17 days of operation, there were several thousand bombings, entire neighborhoods were reduced to dust.
A land operation that seems inevitable
Israeli strikes mainly concern the north of the Gaza Strip. The bombings have intensified in recent hours. The list of leaders of the Islamist movement killed by Israel continues to grow. Among them, one of the heads of the military branch of the organization. Israel’s stated goal is to eradicate Hamas. Unless the country changes its strategic objectives, a ground operation seems inevitable, a phase even more costly in human life, both Palestinian and Israeli.
