An extraordinary trial opened at the Paris court on Monday, September 23: that of the insurance company Indexia, tried for misleading commercial practices. Consumers accuse the company of abusive deductions. The trial is scheduled to last until October 2.

On the afternoon of Monday, September 23, in Paris, consumers brandished their placards before the hearing. They wanted to show the sums they felt they had lost. All of them had signed an insurance contract with Indexia and are now accusing the company of abusive deductions. A titanic trial has begun, with 1,600 civil parties, in which Indexia is being tried for misleading commercial practices.

Indexia, also known as SFAM, offered its insurance when purchasing a multimedia product in department stores. When he bought his computer, Jérôme Roederer was tempted by this attractive contract. He signed for 16 euros per month, but very quickly, the direct debits multiplied, with an estimated 20,000 euros of damages in total. In court on Monday afternoon, neither the head of Indexia nor his lawyers wished to respond to interviews. The group has already denied having set up a system intended to deceive consumers. The Indexia group was liquidated last May. The trial is scheduled to last until October 2.
