Insulted in the street by a motorist, the mayor of Périgueux files a complaint

The mayor of Périgueux (Périgord), Delphine Labail, announces that she is filing a complaint after being insulted in the street by a motorist while she was cycling, France Bleu Périgord learned on Monday June 24 from the councilor.

The mayor (PS) of Périgueux admits that “this is the first time in 16 years” that she is being insulted. However, she cannot say that the driver formally recognized her. “But the insult was violent and unjustified, because I was on a bike and I was holding my right, there was no reason”she remembers.

The elected official does not intend to let this fact pass and wants to mark the occasion with a complaint. She wants to show that it is “unacceptable” that we can be insulted in public spaces, “Whether you are an individual, a woman or an elected official, you can completely disagree with the decisions that I make. You have the right to think what you want about me, but that’s It is unacceptable to insult me ​​in the middle of the street.”she pleads.

According to the mayor, the motorist then accelerated, she was unable to find her license plate “but there are video surveillance cameras in the city”, she explains. She must go to the police station to file a complaint in the coming hours: “I heard it, I received the insult, and now we will have to assume the consequences of these words that were said”she concludes.
