‘Insignia’ Air Fryers Recalled for Fire or Burn Hazard

Health Canada and Best Buy are recalling five types of “Insignia” brand air fryers because they pose a fire or burn hazard.

There have been six reports in Canada of air fryer handles melting or breaking and one report of glass breaking due to overheating. Air fryers have also reportedly caught fire in the United States, but no injuries have been reported.

The recalled models were sold between September 2021 and November 2023. Best Buy says nearly 100,000 air fryers affected by this recall were sold in Canada and more than 180,000 in the United States.

Health Canada recommends that people who own the recalled air fryers unplug them immediately.

Best Buy Canada will provide a gift card equivalent to the full purchase price of the product if the customer can provide a copy of their receipt. Those who do not have their receipt will be entitled to a $75 gift card.

To be eligible for the refund, consumers can register online at https://www.recallrtr.com/airfryer and follow the instructions. They will need to submit photos of their recalled device with the cut power cord, model number and sales receipt.
