“Innocence Project”: the Lorain/Durand-Brault tandem produces a new series for Noovo

After producing the series get me out of me And Disobey: Chantal Daigle’s choice for Crave, producers Sophie Lorain and Alexis Durand-Brault are once again teaming up with Bell Media to deliver the new fiction Innocence Project, which will be broadcast next winter on Noovo.

The 10 episodes will closely follow lawyers defending victims of miscarriages of justice. This will be the case of law student Stella Launière, who is taking a course with renowned criminal lawyer Armand Coupal. He has just been named full professor of the Innocence project at the university. Stella will try to prove the innocence of Anderson Jean-Louis, found guilty of a murder of which he claims not to be the author. Stella will have to tame Coupal’s saying that goes as follows: “to exonerate an accused, you have to know how to get your hands dirty…”

“The ‘Innocence Projects’ are legal clinics located around the world, the purpose of which is to free prisoners who claim to have been unjustly convicted,” said Sophie Lorain, producer at ALSO Productions, in a press release on Wednesday.

“Camping in law schools, these clinics are conducted by students under the supervision of specialized lawyers who work with them to defend cases where all legal remedies have been exhausted,” continued Ms.me Lorain, who will also defend a role in Innocence Project.

This is the author Nadine Bismuth (Indefensible, A family bond) who wrote the plots, which will be brought to life by director Catherine Therrien.

ALSO Productions, which produces Innocence Project in collaboration with Bell Media, will reveal other details shortly, like the rest of the cast.

The production box has been hyperactive since its foundation. We also owe him the series Megantic (Club illico), Portrait-robot (Club illico) and A family bond (Radio Canada).
