Injured, Ons Jabeur withdraws from the National Bank Open

Tunisia’s Ons Jabeur has withdrawn from the National Bank Open women’s competition due to a knee injury, Tennis Canada announced in a press release Tuesday afternoon.

Jabeur, the sixth racquet in the world, had just reached the final at Wimbledon – his third appearance in the final of a Grand Slam event.

“I’m sad to have to withdraw from the National Bank Open in Montreal,” said Jabeur. I hope to be able to return to play in front of my fans next year in Canada. All my Love ! »

In her absence, tournament director Valérie Tétreault recalled that 19 of the top 20 players in the world will still be present at the IGA stadium from August 7 to 13.

Jabeur’s withdrawal means Czech Linda Noskova, who is ranked 59e in the world, earned his ticket to the main draw.

This season, the 18-year-old player notably reached her first final on the WTA circuit, at the Adelaide tournament. She will participate in the National Bank Open for the first time in her career.
