In the section “An idea for France” of July 3, the journalist Valérie Heurtel takes you to Rennes where a website allows retirees to find a small job.

In Rennes (Ille-et-Vilaine), in a quiet area, after 40 years of hairdressing, for Béatrice, the time for summer vacation has come. She has been retired for 10 years now. After a period of adaptation, here she became a hyperactive retiree. Six months ago, she fell for a classified ad: a few hours of ironing, a little job without commitment. That day, she goes to Marie. A website put them in contact. For the price, they agreed on 15 euros per hour.

200 retirees already registered

I declare her as a domestic employee as I would declare a housekeeper, a babysitter, or other“, comments Marie de la Morinière, user of the Les Superactif website. For Béatrice, more than an additional income, it’s a good way to meet people. The idea for the site comes from Joséphine de Geyer and Marie Villena. 200 retirees are already registered. Other initiatives also allow seniors to feel less alone. For example, by going to visit elderly people near you. Neighbors recruit volunteers. It won’t take you hours, just the time for a walk, a scrabble, a reading. Imagine when you live alone, it’s a real gift“, explains Valérie Heurtel on the set of 13 Hours.
