Infractions related to sanitary measures cost Quebecers $ 45 million

Sprains from health measures cost Quebecers $ 45 million, according to the most recent data from the Department of Justice.

Lanaudière, Montreal and Abitibi-Témiscamingue climb on the podium of the regions where the number of observations was the highest in proportion to the population of the region. Conversely, the three most “docile” regions were Chaudière-Appalaches, Gaspésie – Îles-de-la-Madeleine and the Laurentians.

In the latter region, only 273 tickets were issued, compared to 3,692 for the neighboring region of Lanaudière, where there is a comparable population.

The fines are between $ 1,000 and $ 6,000.

It is not possible to know if these tickets are related to the curfew or other health measures, because Quebec does not subdivide its data.

These statistics include all the reports submitted until December 31, 2021, just before the start of the second curfew.
