The Government has changed its mind. He is preparing to put on the agenda the bill “aimed at strengthening the right to abortion”, contrary to what Marc Fesneau said on Friday December 3 on the FranceInfo plateau. The Minister in charge of relations with the Parliament had affirmed that it was “for Parliament to take it up”.
This text notably extends the legal deadline for performing an abortion to fourteen weeks of pregnancy instead of twelve. The National Assembly approved the text twice, but the Senate had refused it at first reading and the rest of the legislative course of the text was pending. “It is a political arbitration between the President and the Prime Minister”, explains to France Televisions a government source which speaks of a review of the text in the Senate around January 17.
Emmanuel Macron has repeatedly declared himself opposed to this text “in a personal capacity”. “Additional delays are not neutral on the trauma of a woman. Afterwards, I respect the freedom of parliamentarians”, entrusted the Head of State to Figaro.
