Expulsions of foreign offenders have increased by around 30% since the Arras attack, franceinfo learned from a source close to the matter on Tuesday November 14. Since the death of Dominique Bernard, this teacher murdered in his school on October 13, the Ministry of the Interior has expelled around a hundred foreign delinquents per week on average. He expelled about 70 before.

For the past month, Gérald Darmanin has published almost daily a list of foreign delinquents sent back to their country of origin. He announced 13 Thursday, 10 Friday, 11 Saturday. According to figures put forward by the ministry on Sunday, there were 93 in the week of November 6 to 12 alone. This increase in expulsions comes after the firm instructions issued by Gérald Darmanin to the prefects. The Minister of the Interior had, the day after the Arras attack, requested “the systematic expulsion of any foreigner […] considered dangerous by the intelligence services”.

This increase is also the result of good diplomatic relations maintained with countries of origin which have refused for several years to recover their nationals. According to those close to the Minister of the Interior, these countries, and in particular Algeria and Morocco, are currently once again agreeing to issue numerous consular passes. The Minister of the Interior sometimes picks up the phone himself to obtain agreement from a country of origin. Delinquent foreigners are therefore much more easily deported. They are repatriated to their countries of origin by plane, escorted by the police.
