Green MP Julien Bayou resigned from the party The Ecologists – Europe Ecology The Greens, Franceinfo learned on Tuesday April 2 from parliamentary sources. In the morning he had already left the Green Party group in the National Assembly. The president of the group, Cyrielle Châtelain, announced it in the MPs’ messaging loop.
The Paris MP, in withdrawal since a complaint from his ex-partner who accused him of “psychological violence” at the beginning of March. However, he was kept within the parliamentary group during a vote less than a week ago. Following this vote, the Young Environmentalists “deplored this result which does not live up to our commitments to combat gender-based and sexual violence”on X.
In September 2022, Julien Bayou, then head of the environmentalist party and co-president of the group in the Assembly, had already stepped back and resigned from his position. EELV’s internal unit on gender-based and sexual violence took action to investigate. But six months later, the environmental group recorded the end of the MP’s withdrawal, due to not being able to hear the complainant. Julien Bayou then felt “innocent”.
