James William Awad claims to have forced all his guests to take a PCR test before boarding the plane, even though Mexican authorities do not require it.

However, screenshots that have since circulated on social networks suggest that some participants were infected during the trip, if not before. Videos from party New Years Day also made it clear that the sanitary rules were more than tenuous.

In his statement sent Thursday, James William Awad said an agreement was almost reached with Sunwing for the return flight. According to him, the carrier proposed, among other things, to strengthen security and no longer sell alcohol on the plane.

However, the organizer says he refused this offer. “I accepted all of its conditions including the presence of the guards while assuring them that the established measures would be respected.
