Influencer Poupette Kenza, real name Kenza Benchrif, was indicted on Sunday for “attempted extortion by an organized gang” and “criminal association”, franceinfo learned on Monday July 8 from the Rouen (Seine-Maritime) prosecutor’s office, confirming information from the ParisianThe justice system opened an investigation on February 23, following a complaint filed by two people for attempted extortion, “of which they had been victims the same day.”
“The investigations established that this couple, after having been subjected to various surveillances (physical, installation of mini cameras near their home and GPS beacon placed on their vehicle), were physically threatened by an individual on condition of handing over a sum of 200 000 euros”confirms the Rouen prosecutor’s office in a press release. The Rouen prosecutor, Frédéric Teillet, specifies that the man suspected of having carried out this extortion attempt “was arrested during the meeting scheduled for the delivery of the sum of money, while he was carrying a grenade”.
“During his police custody, he explained that he had contacted the victims in order to settle a financial dispute between them and an ‘influencer’ currently residing in Dubai and to act as an intermediary.”specifies the Rouen prosecutor’s office. As part of these investigations, investigators identified Poupette Kenza as the “order giver”They arrested her on July 4, when the 24-year-old woman returned to French territory, near Rouen, the city where she is from. She was then taken into custody and charged three days later. The prosecution said she is incarcerated “pending the debate on his placement in pre-trial detention”which is scheduled for Thursday, July 11. “She was also heard as a defendant in a separate procedure concerning misleading commercial practices in the context of her activities as an influencer.”concludes the prosecutor in his press release.
