With inflation, the price of fruits and vegetables soars. The 19/20 went, on the morning of Sunday July 31, to the covered market of Antibes, in the Alpes-Maritimes. In this tourist area, some vacationers are surprised at the prices.

12.95 euros per kilo of nectarines, 19.95 euros for tomatoes cherries78 euros for the kilo of chanterelles: at the covered market in Antibes (Alpes-Maritimes)some tourists are surprised at the prices, on the morning of Sunday 31 July. “The prices seem high compared to the prices we charge in Lyon (Rhône). For example, I compared the price of cherries, which are 18 euros per kilo, while at home, they are 7 euros per kilo”says a tourist.

“I’m ready to pay the price, because taste is important to me”says a foreign tourist. For Adrian cayrolscoop, quality pays off, and so does service. He gets up every night at 1 a.m. to prepare his stand and offer good products to his customers. “At home, we spend more volume, we work with local people, so we can afford to practice margins that are lower. Afterwards, with everything increasing, unfortunately, everyone has to keep certain margins if we want to be able to pay the bills behind”explains Adrian cayrol.
