Are there profiteers who unjustifiably raise their prices in the food sector, and if so, who are they? The government is wondering, and the Ministry of the Economy has announced that it will launch an investigation.

Whatever the shelves, in recent weeks, consumers have noticed that prices are rising. So, are there unjustified increases? This is what denounces Michel-Edouard Leclerc. When you have manufacturers of chocolate and cocoa products who invoke Ukraine for a 15% tariff increase on confectionery, on chocolate bars… I’m talking about Nestlé, I’m talking about Mars… Don’t mess around…“, the latter is indignant.

Questioned, the manufacturers involved defend themselves. The increases proposed for our chocolate category are measured and range from 2.7% to 6.7%“, respond Nestle. The increases are explained by the 40% increase in raw materials, but also by the increase in packaging and energy costs. Of the 1,200 checks carried out on the food sector since the beginning of the year, the fraud prevention department says it has found nothing abnormal.
