Domestic violence: “You have to be careful with automatic ineligibility”
The deputies rejected Tuesday evening in the National Assembly the Renaissance group’s bill to automatically make elected officials convicted of aggravated violence, and in particular domestic violence, ineligible. Clémentine Autain, however known for her feminist fights, voted against the text. The member for Seine-Saint-Denis denounces “a very small initiative”. On the eve of International Women’s Day, “we can see the political blow very well, I think that feminism is better than that”assures Clémentine Autain.
The member also criticizes the substance of the text, explaining that there was in this bill “a whole list (of offences) which went beyond the framework of violence against women”.
The debate that took place in committee was unanimous enough to say that this law was neither done nor to be done.
