Recurrent episodes of drought, the increasingly sensitive issue of water sharing, very violent meteorological episodes: the impact of climate change is already visible in Berry. In Indre, a departmental strategy is being put in place to prepare, anticipate, adapt and find solutions. 250 elected officials were trained in September. A new meeting took place this Tuesday in Châteauroux in the presence of a hundred people: energy unions, the chamber of agriculture, companies, actors in the forest, health, mobility, elected officials. “Here we are getting into the concrete to establish together a strategy for adapting to global warming”explains Claire Blouin, in charge of climate mission within the departmental direction of the territories of Indre.
Indre, a territory already vulnerable to climate change
Several workshops were conducted to make the most complete inventory possible. “We have buildings that are not always properly insulated, we always think about the thermal comfort of winter but not enough about the scorching temperatures. And then there is a psychological impact of global warming with climatic episodes that generate astonishment such as the fall of hail in May”underlines Claire Blouin, guest of France Bleu Berry this Wednesday.
What will these workshops and meetings lead to? “We are going to get in working order, we are giving ourselves 18 months to develop a departmental strategy to deal with this climate change that awaits us. There will be different sources of funding”concludes Claire Blouin.
