Indre-et-Loire and Vienne kept on red “flood” alert, five other departments in orange

Charente, Charente-Maritime, Dordogne and Gironde are on orange “flood” alert on Sunday, while the Alpes-Maritimes are on “avalanche” alert from 3 p.m.

Maximum alert in Indre-et-Loire and Vienne. The Vienne river and its tributary Creuse are on red alert, Sunday March 31, between the municipalities of La Roche-Posay (Vienne) and Candes-Saint-Martin (Indre-et-Loire), according to the first morning bulletin from Vigicrues. This alert level corresponds to a “risk of major flooding” and to a “direct and generalized threat to the security of people and property”.

Four other departments are in orange for flood risks: Charente, Charente-Maritime, Dordogne and Gironde. “Significant overflows are in progress or expected today Sunday on the Dronne aval, the Isle aval, the Vienne median, the Vienne Touraine, the Creuse-Bec des Deux Eaux, the Gartempe and the Charente upstream”lists Vigicrues.

In the South-East, the Alpes-Maritimes are facing an orange “avalanche” alert which will come into effect at 3 p.m., due to significant accumulations of snow on the Mercantour. “The probability of spontaneous avalanches will increase throughout the day on Sunday. The risk level is high (4 out of 5) on the Mercantour massif. Large avalanches are expected from early Sunday evening and the Avalanche activity will intensify during the night from Sunday to Monday before decreasing during the day Mondayaccording to the bulletin published by Météo-France at 6 a.m.
