François-Marie Breon, researcher at the climate and environmental sciences laboratory, talks about the environmental future of our planet, Saturday June 18.

France is experiencing a historic heat wave for the month of June. Climatologists have been warning about the increase in greenhouse gas emissions for a good thirty years now.explains François-Marie Breon, researcher at the laboratory of climate and environmental sciences, Saturday, June 18. “The first consequence of this increase in temperatures is the increase in the frequency and intensity of heat waves”he continues.

“The temperature records in France have been broken successively and it is absolutely certain that this type of event (the current heatwave) will become more frequent and intense”warns François-Marie Breon. “On the one hand, you have to adapt (…) but it is also urgent to take measures to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions”he adds. “It must be recognized that the Earth has already experienced periods of this type, even warmer, but humans have not experienced a climate that changes so quickly”he recalls.
