The Sûreté du Québec (SQ) announces that from today until next Sunday, as well as from June 30 to July 3, its police officers will intensify their interventions on the road network during the long the National Day of Quebec and Canada Day.
Due to the many trips planned on the roads of Quebec, patrol officers will pay particular attention to speeding and driving while impaired by alcohol or drugs.
During these same periods last year, the Sûreté du Québec counted nine fatal collisions on the territory it patrols. She points out that speeding and impaired driving remain the main causes of fatal collisions in Quebec.
Neglecting to fasten the seat belt and using cell phones while driving remain a major concern for the SQ, which ensures that these offenses will also be monitored by the police.
