Increase in March in home sales in Montreal

The Professional Association of Real Estate Brokers of Quebec (APCIQ) announces that home sales in the metropolitan Montreal region increased by 14.2% in March compared to the same month of last year.

The association says home sales in the region totaled 4,488 for the month, up from 3,930 in March 2023.

But it specifies that this level of transactional activity remains below the historical average recorded for this time of the year.

The median price for all property types increased year over year, including a 5.6% increase for the price of a single-family home, which stood at $565,000 last month.

Furthermore, the median price of a plex increased by 5.5% to reach $750,000 and the median price of a condominium increased by 4.9% to reach $400,000.

Active listings in March jumped 17.1% from a year earlier to 18,707, while new listings rose 10.4% to 6,973.
