Incidences, a Hérault company that develops and installs solar panels

Three former EDF Renewables employees David Augeix, Séverine Pasquinet and Julien Garçon created their company Incidences in February 2022. This company based in Agde installs and develops projects around photovoltaic panels.

Interview with David Augeix, co-manager of this company

What is Incidences?

Incidences is a new player whose vocation is to intervene in the field of renewable energies. Mainly in the development, construction and operation of solar power plants that can be used on the roofs of buildings, on car parks or on abandoned ground.

What types of projects can you be called upon for?

Communities can call on us to promote their neglected. Companies can call on us to enhance the roof of their buildings by installing solar panels.

On a company scale, can it be relevant and profitable to have solar panels?

Absolutely. It can be very relevant and very profitable. It all depends on the manufacturer’s consumption profile. If you have production cycles and you consume H24, including weekends, because the machines do not stop. It can become very relevant and very interesting.

Today, certain consumer profiles have electricity costs of around €0.12 per kilowatt hour. With supplies and productions from solar panels, under certain conditions of exposure of roofs rather to the south, we can be in the order of 8 or 9 cents per kilowatt hour. So we are already profitable and given the electricity costs which are not falling. The only question that remains at the level of the profession is at what rate will electricity increase? If we are already profitable today, we will necessarily be so over periods of ten or twenty years.

It’s a business you started with two other former colleagues of yours. So three former employees of EDF Renouvelables?

Absolutely. It’s a story first and foremost of friends since we collaborated in this company. For my part, more than 21 years. More than fifteen years for each of them. We wanted a more personal adventure, to concretely launch this company, to manage it. With both our know-how acquired within the EDF Renewables group, but with this desire now to be closer to the desires of the territory and the desires of industrialists. That is to say that the project we want to carry out is a project that responds first and foremost to local objectives.

For the moment, you are three of the three co-managers, but the idea is to recruit people afterwards?

Indeed, for the moment, there are only three of us, the founders. Very quickly, we hope to need support. So we are thinking of launching a recruitment phase at the start of the school year, in the fall. So we are going to be on development project manager profiles. Six months later, on profiles rather of construction realization.

The name of the company is Incidences. There is a particular reason, I imagine?

The impact is what is the impact of our actions on the future? I would say that the three of us, the founders, have been involved in renewable energies since leaving school, since leaving our studies. And it is no coincidence that we continue in this environment. It’s also a bit the impact of our actions on the future.
