A man who sexually assaulted his daughter between the age of 7 and her majority, to the point where she became his “sex slave”, receives 14 years in prison, an exemplary sentence and longer than what the prosecution demanded .

“We compare incest to a murder without a corpse, to a psychological murder of the victim. Incest is unacceptable, incomprehensible and disgusting,” judge Serge Cimon said Monday morning at the Laval courthouse.
The magistrate sentenced Jean Blais, 62, to 14 years in prison for various sexual offenses against his daughter Cynthia.
The victim requested that the publication ban be lifted “to raise awareness among people to speak out.”
“Yes, it’s difficult, the procedures for five years, but look at the end what it gives,” she mentioned at the end of the hearing.
Repeated attacks
Between 2000 and 2011, Cynthia Blais was “a sex slave of her father. He will abuse her with disconcerting regularity,” explained Judge Cimon.
The first sexual assault took place when Cynthia Blais was only 7 years old.
Dressed in a Mickey Mouse jacket, she was lying on the sofa, her head on her father’s thighs, listening to the children’s show Bob the Builderwhen the latter began to touch him.
The actions happened again less than a week later, in the evening, in his room. Then, they occurred once or twice a week.
Sometimes her father demanded touching in exchange for permission, such as going to a restaurant or sleeping at a friend’s house.
He then said to him: “What do I get in return?”
When she celebrated her tenth birthday, the nature of the sexual assaults worsened. These took place when his mother, who had a night shift, went to work.
Her father told her there would be consequences if she reported him. He threatened her that she wouldn’t be able to go play with her friends or that he would hit her.
At age 14, sexual assaults now occurred four to five times a week. Sometimes his father would tell him: “You are my wife, you belong to me.”
The accused even offered to have a child with him when she was 16 years old.
Following a meeting with a professional at her school, the victim “realized that what was happening with her father was not good,” it is mentioned in the decision on guilt.
“She asked him to stop. He refused,” we continue.
According to court calculations, Cynthia Blais was sexually assaulted at least 1,000 times between the ages of 14 and 18, before she left the family home.
“He took my life from before, but from now on it’s me who will take control of my life. There is no one who will control me and tell me: ‘You have to do this,’” Cynthia Blais, now 30, told the media after the hearing.
Jean Blais continues to deny his guilt and has appealed the verdict. His lawyer, Me Mario Lavigne hoped to get only five years in the penitentiary.
