In Chablis (Yonne), Mathieu Sagardoytho, restaurateur “Au fil du zinc” walks in his flooded establishment, Tuesday April 2. He tried to save his kitchen by lifting his equipment. The next day, the river has calmed down and the flood begins slowly. In the main room, the water has receded, revealing a thin layer of mud, but it is still too early to assess the damage. “We’re going to wait to get the electricity back, see what happens, what works, what doesn’t work”indicates the restaurateur.
The department’s flood record has been exceeded
In Yonne, around a hundred homes are still without electricity. The flood wave is still spreading in the department. Water threatens to invade a metallurgy company. Since 5 a.m., employees have been lifting the machines. In the commune of Chablis, the flood peak of 2.40 meters was reached. It exceeds the previous record of 2013 in the department by 6 cm.
