Some departments suffer from the lack of doctors, as in Yonne. So a health center was created and allows several specialist doctors to take turns and offer a varied care offer to the inhabitants.
Pont sur Yonne (Yonne) and its 3,300 inhabitants soon have no more doctors. “Me, I don’t have any more doctors, I can’t find any”says a resident. “We take care of ourselves”continues another. It lacks 77 general practitioners in the department to reach the national average. Faced with this observation, a doctor had the idea of creating a multidisciplinary health center in Sens (Yonne). In the brand new structure, opened three months ago, are 35 practitioners including specialists.
Retain doctors
For doctors, the nursing home is also a plus. “It’s much easier to share patient information with colleagues right away, to exchange ideas between us”says Dr. Alexandra Gerasimoucardiologist. In May, the team will include six general practitioners. In an attempt to retain future doctors, the town hall of Joigny (Yonne) invested in a former sub-prefecture5 minutes walk from the hospital. The place has now been transformed into a large shared flat with six rooms, reserved for young trainees. Rent and food are covered.
