The number of refugees who have fled Ukraine since the beginning of the invasion by the Russian army is approaching three million. 2.7 million, more precisely, according to figures published by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), published on March 12. At the same time, 1.8 million people were internally displaced.
Most of them fled to neighboring Poland and Hungary, according to data posted by the UN agency (link in English). Franceinfo lists on this map the movements of the Ukrainian population fleeing Russian troops.
In detail, Poland has already taken in 1,655,503 refugees, Hungary 246,206, Slovakia 195,980, Moldova 104,929 and Romania 84,671. According to UNHCR, just over 938 people have taken refuge in Belarus, a country allied with Moscow from which the Russian army launched its offensive on February 24. And another 105,897 went to Russia. 304,156 civilians reached a destination other than the border states listed above. Asked about LCI, Marlène Schiappa indicated that 13,500 Ukrainians had arrived in France, “with mainly women and children”.
