In vitro fertilization will be covered by the public plan from November 15

In vitro fertilization (IVF) will be covered by the public system as of November 15, the Minister for Health and Social Services, Lionel Carmant, announced on Wednesday.

As previously announced, the new public program will ensure that one cycle of IVF is free for women “aged 18 or over and under 41”.

People who will not be eligible for free will be able to use tax credits. This will be “enhanced” to cover cycles that are not by public aid, confirmed the Minister of Finance, Eric Girard. The rate of the tax credit will vary from 20% to 80%, depending on the income of the people using it.

More details will follow.
