In rugby, the year 2024 begins with Olympic auspices for the captain of the XV of France Antoine Dupont. After announcing his desire to compete in the Paris Games with the French rugby sevens team, the Toulousain is expected this week in Marcoussis (Essonne), at the training center of the French teams, to meet his future teammates.
A quick passage for a first contact in complete discretion, while the Blues of 7 are gathered in training to prepare for the rest of the season. But it is only at the beginning of February that Antoine Dupont’s septist adventure will truly begin.
Two 7-a-side events scheduled
While the French XV will be in the middle of the Six Nations Tournament, with the match against Ireland already played, its captain will join the French 7s team, on February 5, for his first internship at Insep , in Vincennes. Objective: prepare for the 7-a-side Tournament in Vancouver, Canada, the very first competition in which the Toulouse player will participate, at the end of February, before also playing in the Los Angeles tournament at the beginning of March. These are currently the two 7-a-side events already scheduled in the player’s calendar.
The rest of his preparation will depend on the deadlines of Stade Toulousain and the discussions still ongoing between the player, his club and the French Rugby Federation. The Olympic tournament will take place from July 24 to 27, at the Stade de France, right in the middle of the Top 14 vacation.
