In video: The Car Guide has fun with the 2022 BMW M3 Competition

This week on the show Car guideour columnists Antoine Joubert and Gabriel Gélinas had fun aboard the 2022 BMW M3 Competition on the Mécaglisse circuit in Notre-Dame-de-la-Merci.

Cosmetically, the M3 sports flared fenders, wider tracks and quad exhaust pipes. Since it is a Competition version, several elements such as the roof and the seats are made of carbon fiber.

“We should talk about the elephant in the room: the grille,” comments Gabriel. The two journalists agree to say that it is not unanimous in terms of design.

On the other hand, Gabriel mentions that it is difficult to get in and out because of the shape of the seats. “But once seated, the driving position is phenomenal”, he rejoices.

Regarding the instrumentation, Antoine appreciates the presentation. “I’m not a big fan of digital screens and touch screens, but I find that in this case, we combine something quite well visually,” he says.

In terms of powertrain, the BMW M3 Competition is powered by a turbocharged six-cylinder engine with 503 horsepower and 479 lb-ft of torque. Moreover, this is the first time in 35 years that an M3 has been offered with all-wheel drive. “The six-cylinder in-line… It’s an engine that is absolutely fabulous! exclaims Gabriel.
